Heart wrapped in an iron shell

Eating away
This this that's in my heart
Or what it lacks,
To protect me.
It, my heart, was in an iron shell.
Then you came along
And took a torch to it.
It melted with your kindness.
It melted all the way.
I'm thinking now how
If I hadn't...
If it hadn't broken down
Melted...
That iron shell that served me well,
I wouldn't be here
In this spot
Of termoial.
