The Ticking Clock

As I grow older, time passes by
Seems like day after day
I lose another friend I've known
Everyone passes away
But I'm still hanging on
Sometimes I have to ask why?
I can't describe the pain
Or the emptiness I feel inside
Time isn't kind to anyone
So it seems to me
We're all forgotten in the end
Lost to posterity
Whether we rot in the ground
Or go ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Even the strongest metals
Decay and turn to rust

~Chorus~
Where do we go when we pass
There's only one thing that I fear
That there is no heaven or hell
That we just disappear
No memories or wants
No happiness or despair
No pleasure, no pain
Because we're no longer there

There is a clock on the wall
Ticking as time goes by
Counting all those seconds
Getting me closer, till I die
When I look back on my life
I'm happy with what I've done
That doesn't make it better
Knowing that soon I'll be gone
Time seems to move faster
Knowing that the end is near
But no one lives forever
I think they made that clear
If I could live my life again
I'd live it the same way
I'd find myself back here
Back to where I am today

~chorus~

Where do we go when we pass
There's only one thing that I fear
That there is no heaven or hell
That we just disappear
