The Guilty Generation

I wake up angry
as two faced January
screams the death throes of our world
The kids say it's my fault
that I could have done more
The 'guilty' generation
who should have done more
So I took my rage to a church
where cold high ceilings
squander energy
while my anger squirms
I am angry at God
and myself
for listening
to too much news
I should learn to shut it all out
put my head in the sand--
but then isn't that what God does
while his children burn
