Where Swans Go to Die

Beneath the world, where whispers fade
A realm of shadows cold and stark
The path in death is arrayed
Where swans go guided by the dark

The walls are stone, like frozen breath
Their veins of moss, a pale decay
A hymnless choir, the song of death
In echoes lost where none shall stay

Each mummified face, a silent scream
Their sockets wide with horror's plight
As if caught within some endless dream
Where dawn forever yields to night

The air hangs thick, a stagnant pool
A crypt of ages locked in time
As though a monarch, proud but cruel
Had stilled the bells with darkened rhyme

A sea of feathers, white as bone
Lies scattered ‘neath the ashen dome
A graveyard for the flight alone
Where swans shall find their final home

The stillness bites, a serpent’s hiss
A venom wrapped in stifled air
For death’s embrace is cold as this
A tomb of beauty turned despair

Here lies no rest, no hallowed peace
But prisoned souls with frozen cry
A haunted realm where dreams must cease
And swans descend at last to die
