With The Power Of Myth (Ode to Joseph Campbell)

If I am able to rhyme a few words
Is it poem I make?
If I etch in marble
Is artist a label I can truly take?

If I can score no matter who is guarding
Am I destined to be an NBA star?
If I can drive fast without collision
Should I be in a race car?

If people admire me down a runway
Will I be a model of style?
If I can bond with the opposite sex
Am I the parent of a child?

If I can blow to make a sound in a flute
Is the concert stage a place for me?
Use words that amaze and move people
Is politics the place to be?

If I can navigate a scalpel
Would medicine be alright?
If I have deadly right hand
Should I box with all my might?

Well you might think my "ifs" are wacky
And without any real worth
But sometimes they force us into professions
Very quickly sometimes right after birth!

Might I suggest a better model
Before boring you with my list
That you instead look at those endeavors
Where first and foremost you find your bliss!
