White horses
The beach was very long for miles, as far as
The eye could see, but now winter cold.
The farmer and I had gone there to load sand
Into a horse cart
The Nordic sky was magnificent, the sea was
clear and green, are small in this vastness
It was then I saw two white horses riding a crest
of the translucent sea came ashore, snorting and
Galloping yonder.
The farmer didn’t see it, busy, he was eating
The leg of a lamb his wife had given him for
The long journey
Years later, at an art exhibition, a painter had
Painted my horses
he must have seen them to
