don't be late
silently it comes to behold you
sipping off your soul until there is nothing
the stillness of breath your lifeline
reaching out to those you love
you feel the connection slipping
you cry out but no one hears you
then one day you are gone
transported to the place dreams die
alone with your guilt you go mad
as the world you knew continues to spin
full of light and love
cutoff from everything you weep
in your solitary cell of grief
a light shines, it's a glimmer
someone is missing you terribly
you hold onto the spark
and a message is given
you reflect on those you left behind
memories flood your vision
you remember the special one in your life
they hope to see you again later
you find yourself at a bench
you are contemplating a way out of this purgatory
a place of nothingness and sorrow
you miss your loved one
but there is nowhere to go but forward
your mind full of thoughts you would say
if you could just see her one more time
the train comes and you find you have a ticket to ride
the conductor says it's time to go son
have you decided on your destination?
the future appears before you
you see her and your heart softens
somewhere in time she is already heading
you decide you won't be late for this soul meeting
