Charlie's Past And Present...

In a tiny closet lives...
a little boy named Charlie...
The bad mommy tucks him in...
each night and kisses his cheek...
but he wants his real mommy.

He wishes he were a superhero...
to escape the evil mommy...
But he's not.
To try...is to lose another toe!
Or something worse!

He tried to count the days...
He gave up around 40...
He remembers the 4th of July
with his real family...
tomorrow is Christmas...she says.

If he hadn't snuck out...
to the playground...by himself...
just after a rain.
There were no big kids to bully him...
but nobody at all to protect him!

He was taught about strangers.
He thought they were always men.
They're not! They're not!
She never offered candy...
She just waited and snatched him.

He is shackled to the wall.
She takes him to the toilet...
She feeds him cereal and sandwiches...
She says he's lived longer...
than all the other Charlie's!

He wants to wake up at home.
He wants to be Bobby again.
He doesn't like how...
she screams nasty words...
and talks to herself.

The worst thing is when...
she talks about the next Charlie!

(Years prior):

Playing he's a hero of knight and dragon lore...
battling through the day, with a plastic sword.
Defeating all the villains...although he's only four!
The first Charlie is happy!

Such fun, laughter and joy...
Charlie loves one thing more than any toy!
Candy!  But isn't that most every boy?
Diabetic Charlie wants candy!

Mommy knows his weakness. She hides it away,
A very rare treat that Charlie wants EVERY DAY!
But Charlie knows the hiding place!
He is going to get him SOME CANDY!

Charlie plots a mission...
silently...waiting for Mommy to go poop!
Gonna binge on sweets!
Sorry Mommy.  A boy's gotta eat!

Charlie loves his mommy.  But he'll break this rule...
and suffer the consequences how bad could they be?
An innocent boy in an innocent world...
where he'll forever stay...Charlie died today!
