A Thousand Futures

I press in with slow and careful muscle,
admiring your breasts, ethereal fountains of life
that glow from curtained light.
So little is seen but there’s much to imagine
as we find our place and ways to approach
the newness of what might be our wedding bed.

Feeling no doubt from you,
I dare not withdraw from this appealing position.
I’ll rest inside of you for a while,
for eternity if the gods allow.
But I have a duty this night; to plant
what I have carried since birth.

The gods of lust demand that I deposit
a thousand futures in your sacred garden.
I wish you no harm but pray that our union
will produce new life and future lovers
as passionate as we are for
the continued life of our planet.
