the room
the forgotten room was lifeless
in the noon sunlight where only dust motes float
it has seen beautiful days, where laughter bounce off it's walls
and gossip made the wallpaper blush
intimate moments when secrets were shared and tears shed
a sanctuary concealing children in it's cuphoards
during a playful game of hide and seek
the room bonded with the family over births and death
they shared extrordinary moments
when the men landed on the moon
sorrowful days when Elvis died
and frightening moments of despair
after losing JFK and Marilyn
inpiring moments when Jackie O
and John Jr. taught us what bravery was
it was after the world war
and the room was more important than ever
it was looked on as pride
a sign we were stronger than ever
now time has passed, the children moved on
the was joyful room was deeply sadenned
it's owners moved to a nursing home
it longed for a new family
now barren the cheerful wallpaper peeling
a beloved treasure, a teddy bear left discarded
is picked up by a little girl who is scared in the new room
the room beam it would could be happy again
