from the darkness, shine

 
shining in the moment my sparkle flickers
while dark temptations grow inside
causing me to shiver

drinking in the moonlight
I call my monsters home
with little pangs of sorrrow

midnight in his bleak rapport comes to me first
with a kiss dangerous and deadly
injecting his visions into my soul

gasping from the pain
darkness floods my senses
and I am transported to the days of old
when we were young
running with night we howl
barking at the demon's tempest

now sulking in the gloom
the shadows have encroached
leaving me faithless and alone

my spirit misses you
sacred matrimony of us two
secreting my thoughts over the years
I've kept my needs hidden

desires over the flesh and of the soul
claw at my mind and I think to reach for you
with aching knowledge
for centuries I worship
overcome by the emptiness left, when you departed

divinity of mine you have scoured
I am here where you left me
my shine but a shimmer now

retreating into the black
I find myself in good company
