Alchemize your breath

Depth of spirit in freefall,  
collecting sludge from these walls  
    thoughts  
               pulling you down  
                                       in intervals  
adhering new gains in reflection  
 
It’s murky here at the bottom  
                                             and voluble  
I breathe the grains of context into my lungs  
absorbing their implications  
This content of thought  
                                    sticky and smothering  
I choke on their connotation  
 
Have you never encountered    
such profuse pondering piled afoot  
that it forestalls your rise to the surface?  
So astir, these greying halls,  
So many doors to trigger the loll  
Never more imposing  
as if the dust settles over every inch  
to alchemize your breath  
It never rends—  
                          just simmers  
These billows of rumination  
churning in a world that once shone  
To unfold it  
                  before it is gone
