I came back to you today
feeling the curls
on the edges of
your pages,
where i've read you
backwards and
forwards
even upside down
hidden away
in my duvet
feeling past tears,
drunk saliva and
faded blood
blotches,
how they've
hardened your
chosen font as
it lays buried in
each paper I
turn over.
I came back to you today
knowing not much
can really console
this strange brain
how it rages daily
on both sides of
my temples,
I carefully focus
on every word
as fingers run
through jet
black hair
like a secret pact
only a few of us
know about.
I came back to you today
knowing my fog
becomes so thick
it requires
truth for lips
struggling not to
press themselves
against cold bottles
and hands
struggling not
to make bad
decisions.
I came back to you today
because you say it
exactly how it is
there's no heroes
for people like us
in these situations
only ourselves,
no flowers
no bollocks.
