I Like Me Better
I like me better when
I’m just a shadow painted on the wall.
Dim light illuminated from the lamp,
Casting this version of me
Murky and opaque, a proof I exist,
Mirroring and tailing my movements
To remind me of what I am,
Though it knows not who I am.
This silhouette, merely a fragment of me,
Dancing across the room while I’m writhing,
A glorious reflection of my being,
Failed to display my agony
As it lingers, quietly witnessing.
That’s why I like me better when I’m her.
I trace the contours of her figure,
How effortlessly perfect she is.
Yet, when I cease to exist, so will she.
When the light fades and it’s dark,
She’ll dissolve and vanish.
Yet again, she still holds power over me.
I’m just a shadow painted on the wall.
Dim light illuminated from the lamp,
Casting this version of me
Murky and opaque, a proof I exist,
Mirroring and tailing my movements
To remind me of what I am,
Though it knows not who I am.
This silhouette, merely a fragment of me,
Dancing across the room while I’m writhing,
A glorious reflection of my being,
Failed to display my agony
As it lingers, quietly witnessing.
That’s why I like me better when I’m her.
I trace the contours of her figure,
How effortlessly perfect she is.
Yet, when I cease to exist, so will she.
When the light fades and it’s dark,
She’ll dissolve and vanish.
Yet again, she still holds power over me.
