Play My Part
You would never know it
The constant pain I feel
Because in the light of the day
Its as if it wasn't real.
Sure, I'll play, I'll laugh
I'll even sing your songs
But the pain is still there, it's lurking
Because it's been here all along.
Then the darkness comes
And it's got so damn much power
Slowly takes my soul
Hour by dreadful hour.
They tell me to stay strong
They swear it gets better
They say, " if you can just hold out
And bear this stormy weather. "
They tell me happiness will come
That I just need to fight
But what they forget
Is after day comes night
So I play along
Play my part
While this crushing darkness
Slowly breaks my heart.
The constant pain I feel
Because in the light of the day
Its as if it wasn't real.
Sure, I'll play, I'll laugh
I'll even sing your songs
But the pain is still there, it's lurking
Because it's been here all along.
Then the darkness comes
And it's got so damn much power
Slowly takes my soul
Hour by dreadful hour.
They tell me to stay strong
They swear it gets better
They say, " if you can just hold out
And bear this stormy weather. "
They tell me happiness will come
That I just need to fight
But what they forget
Is after day comes night
So I play along
Play my part
While this crushing darkness
Slowly breaks my heart.
