but hardly anyone today can be arsed
to read his poems, and yet everybody today

I read his version of the Iliad shortly after highschool, and have never read anything by him that I didn't like.
But yeah, most folks are clueless about him now.

There was something about his "Ode on Solitude" that grabbed me in my younger years. I guess because you rarely find individuals who are happy with the lot they've been given, and desire no more.
