Maybe she will look at me
But i will not know enough to answer with a stare more intense than hers
So I will tear my heart from my ribs and hold it out for her
And she will sit oblivious like a child as i wait for her to take it
I will wait for a moment and then I will stuff it back into my body
before she can reach it
i will act, pretend she is a mere stranger and not the reason for my poorly stitched chest,
my heart a second away from being ripped out once more by my own hand for her
then shoved down my throat and eaten before she can hear the erratic thumping of it.
I pretend she is beyond me, unworthy of a passing glance
But my stare cannot not stray
It refuses to leave her.
So maybe i will tear my eyes from their sockets and gift them to her
Maybe she will place them in front of hers and hold a contest
Maybe she will stare and stare and stare
And then she will forget to stop
And that will be that, she will take me and I will be eternally glad for it.
