Elegy for a Fading Light

My mind, it falters, sinking day by day,
I push, I pull, but I’m slipping away.
Each breath a burden, each thought a plea,
Trying to hold on to what’s left of me.

I know you see me, you ask if I’m fine,
But there are no words for the shadows inside.
I’m crumbling quietly, behind my own smile,
Just know, I’ve been breaking for quite a while.

If I fade, if I go, if I fall from this fight,
Know I tried to hold on, through the endless night.
But the weight is too heavy, the light too dim,
The war in my heart, I no longer win.

But if I go, if I slip from your view,
I’ll paint the sky prettier, just for you.
With colors you’ve never seen in the day,
And the stars will dance in a tender ballet.

The heavens will weep with a quiet grace,
But I’ll be there, lighting up your space.
Only for you, the skies will shine bright,
A gentle reminder in the stillness of night.

So if you look up and see the sky glow,
Know that’s my love in the twilight flow.
And though I’m lost to this struggle, this pain,
I’ll make the sky beautiful again.
