Gates of Understanding

Yon dark gate, where stars doth brightly gleam
We tread the path of shadow, light unseen
The heavens wide, where spheres of wisdom sing
Doth call us forth to learn the hidden thing

Oh, whither goest thou, who seeketh sight
To pierce the veil ‘twixt dark and burning light?  
The cosmos vast, with voices ever still
Doth whisper truths unto the seeking will

By aeon’s breath, by sacred flame enshrined
We seek the gnosis, secrets of the mind
Gates of thought, where matter doth not reign
The silent soul its ancient lore doth gain

O lightless flame, O ever-hidden fire
Guide us within to realms of high desire
The beauty of the stars is not yet all
For in the void we hear the primal call

No earthly hand doth open yon bright door
No mortal tongue may speak its mystic lore
Yet by the gate, where darkness is our guide
The soul is cleansed, and truth no more doth hide

Sing, O ye stars, of that which lies beyond
Where flesh and time are naught but fleeting bond
For we are born to wander and to seek
The gnosis true, the light the heavens speak
