A Man Like Me
I wake up kicking the wall.
Who can love a man like me?
A Marine who is still violent, even in his dreams.
What I turned myself into wasn't just for me.
It was for my three children and a wife I no longer see.
They never had to bear the burden of losing their Marine.
But I still carry the scars of hearing people scream.
I can see now clearly that the battle is still in me.
War can change many things but never back to who one used to be.
