wishes on the wind
dying dandelions dream of motherhood
as their sweet petals wilt and dry
as their buttery buds are pollinated
by an obliging bee
and their womanhood becomes seed
they daydream on a lovely summer breeze
their children on a wish and a prayer are then carried away
to take hold in fertile soil, perhaps your open mind
in a field, in a garden, or even a sidewalk crack
my wishes are taken afloat by a wind that was listening
and given rebirth elsewhere so the cycle of life carries on its destiny
beautiful redemption, for what some see as a simple weed
to me is the most beautiful flower in the garden
growing to spite it all
blooming in my mind today
memories and wishes
he loves me not, he loves me, he loves me sometimes
and if our love wilts and dies
my heart's seeds will flourish
from my chaste visions of hope, this is my wish
oh wise dandelion bud free your wisdom today on the air
imbued with mystery and understanding
to me, you are the epitome of living
to die to live again somewhere else, beautiful
today I set my face to the life-giving sun
blessed to be the prettiest in my garden of hope
because you contain visions I've yet to dream
