Once Upon A Four Leaf Clover
Normally I don’t make wishes
but here I am finding myself
hopeful.
In my palm, delicately placed
a four leaf clover.
I’ve needed some good luck.
because lately i’ve been feeling stuck.
And now this little piece of greenery
has lit my fire,
like a match has been struck.
Fortune never seems to find me,
in fact, it evades me.
Hard times and bad days
are what made me.
Stronger? I’m not really sure,
but I’m durable.
Born to lose but built to win,
still mentally conditioned to believe that
I’m incurable.
Incapable of allowing myself
the pleasure of true happiness.
because I’m always faced with guilt.
I abandon my own desires, call it a jilt.
But today, I find myself hopeful.
Call me crazy for placing all bets
on a four leaf clover.
Hell, I’m not even Irish.
This is completely out of my norm,
but if I make a wish,
it couldn’t cause any harm.
Ready for the dread to be lifted,
the heavy weight off my shoulders.
I guess I’ll know when the time comes,
when I wish upon a four leaf clover.
