Morning light (2)

Continuing…

Into the distance
Sweeping vistas rush to greet us
Atmospheres thicken
We stare…
Wide eyed

Our hearts, aligned
Just like it’s always been
Innocence, our blessing
Blood diamonds forever
How I love you…
this first morning
….of the rest of our lives

Gathering pace
As we pierce the glare
A sideways glance
Captures the desolation
These are the wild places
Gorgeously inviting to me
…I’m so glad to be next to you

A run down settlement comes into view
We stop for gas
Servings of root beer and banana shakes are available here
Dirty hands operate the register
A weathered face carved by sand …smiles
Broken teeth wish us well

We spin off, lifting the dust
You light a cigarette, its tip glowing against the morning sun
Cherry lips that remind me of ice cream
Your black hair fights the wind
I wonder, thinking crazy things
You push on
I continue cocooned in my fantasy

All the while scattered silence serves as a theme tune.

Until again.
