Roots And Weeds
One year someone planted a seed
On top of a very large hill
For a year I climbed up
And watered it
The second year it became a sapling
Another year
Spent climbing up
And watering it
Third year it started growing leaves
It had a respectable trunk
Another year
More climbing, more watering
Fourth year the tree was fully grown
But still
Another year
I climbed and watered
The fifth year and the tree was cut down
I tried to climb
And water
But it was too late
So another year passed
The sixth year came around
I climbed up the mountain
And I did not water
But I sat
On the tree stump
And we rested together
For we had grown so much
Done so much
And now finally
We could sit at the top of the mountain
And see all of our past
And look towards our future
On top of a very large hill
For a year I climbed up
And watered it
The second year it became a sapling
Another year
Spent climbing up
And watering it
Third year it started growing leaves
It had a respectable trunk
Another year
More climbing, more watering
Fourth year the tree was fully grown
But still
Another year
I climbed and watered
The fifth year and the tree was cut down
I tried to climb
And water
But it was too late
So another year passed
The sixth year came around
I climbed up the mountain
And I did not water
But I sat
On the tree stump
And we rested together
For we had grown so much
Done so much
And now finally
We could sit at the top of the mountain
And see all of our past
And look towards our future
