Clara
Show me something serious
My deep brown eyes are curious
Resist your subtle lurching
Be free and be interesting
Your hair is blonde, untied
Your head hangs low, belied
I love your shy smile, its wry
Like so, I'd love to see you cry
"The first time we met, I thought you were pretty
When you said hi, your blue eyes absorbed me
You walked lightly, graciously
You were carefree, confidently
"I followed you around: I loved your company
You followed me around too: we were in perfect harmony
"Then he came and stole your heart from me
You left me for dead and didn't care about me
I cried in front of you, my sentences ended with "please"
You turned away from me coldly, with ice-breaking ease
"My heart grew cold when you were away
I remembered your promises and all you did say
I cried a river, my eyes were always red
I couldn't sleep, even though I spent my days in bed
"Then the inevitable happened: he left you
Your best friend came to my door saying: "Clara misses you"
Her words were heavy:
Your once sweet name now weighs heavy
"Five days went by
At last you stopped by
You ran into my arms, crying
your eyes were sorry, I thought they were lying
"I took you back
But my cold heart pushed you back
Nothing was the same
You were full of shame
"I wanted you to feel my pain
Perhaps some sort of comfort is what I'll gain.
So I smiled and acted normal,
And I kept our conversations formal
" I want you to love me again
So that I can cause you real pain
I'll do whatever it takes
Cos every time I see you, my broken heart aches"
Its a new day again
We sit on a public bench again
Her head lays warm on my chest
All I am thinking of is revenge
Her blonde hair is untied
Her head hangs low, belied
I love her shy smile, its wry
Like so, I'd love to see her cry...
