daydream
you are sunlit beauty in your quiet way
breaking through a shaded room in the afternoon
you bring with you a state of calm to a chaotic mind
I rest in your tomes, your books of life
I would love to find myself in your powerful arms
but you don't believe in love and I'm not sure I do either
my heart says loving you would hurt
I'm afraid I've drawn too close to your soul
in my diary, I write my secrets about us
foolish dreams in my book where we can thrive
such a messy feeling love
there are storms inside me where my whirlwind became one with you
your thoughts started spilling over into my own
on a day just like this
me daydreaming listening to you think
sailing on the deep waters our thoughts merge
and I was aboard ship with you
I knew I couldn't stay you prefer to be alone
and what a fantasy it was, I am a loner
I like to be in charge when I encounter people
I don't like being at the behest of another
so I continue to dream about you and the ocean
swept up in the moment
a woman by your side for a day maybe two
then part ways the stars didn't align
but she was pleasant company
always above all there is more to explore
the ports are calling with their exotic spice
get your fill and be satisfied and know my soul is with you
