The Dark Between Hells
In realms 'twixt hells where shadows deep do dwell,
A place forsaken, ne'er by light adorned,
There lies a darkness darker than e'en Hell,
Where souls lament, by Heaven's grace forsworn.
No fiery pit, nor brimstone's searing flare,
But void eternal, still and void of sound,
Where echoes of despair do fill the air,
And restless spirits wander, lost, unbound.
In this abyss, 'twixt realms of doom and sin,
No hope doth shine, nor mercy doth descend,
For here the damned, their endless cries begin,
And here all faith and virtue meet their end.
O God of light, dost Thou this place abide,
Where shadows reign and saintly souls have died?
