Reminisce: A Night Road Trip - in collab with Revisionary

Fireflies, like neon signs, lit up the tree line
Night sky has a hold on me, lost in a moonlit reverie
The same dirt roads we once traveled, feel so dreary
Tainted by the sorrow, echoes of our past simplicities

Ghosts line the path intrinsically
Taxing, our expensive priceless memories, now submerged in whiskey
Feeling quite cheap tonight, but one thought emerges when emotions flow turgid as tears rush to the eye

We used to sit on the car looking out to the stars, just us two on a road trip
Dusk approaches, and the silent loners bask in the moment
We look at each other, contemplating which mouth would open
And you start up a topic about Hollywood and showbiz
Young actress, up and coming, talent in full motion

Breaking out of the shell that kept you soft-spoken
You talk and I listen, while you reveal your magnum opus
I’d drown everything out, the world didn’t make a sound
Until you pulled me back into focus
When I’d come to my senses, you’re the only thing I’d notice

That's what I miss the most, the smile as you talk about your passions
Your eyes when they met satisfaction
My jokes, your witty retorts, and your reactions
The energy you had and how I'd always match it
You were my consort, and I'll always be your bastion

With endless summer nights ignite our laughter
Leaving me with a sense of familiarity thereafter
Driving on the gravel path, hand out the window, feeling the bitter breeze between my fingers
Haunting with memories that still lingers

But that was then, and here is now, me alone sitting on our hallowed ground
Playful whispers, wisps of your fragrance, everything we laughed about
My mind floats with thoughts of you and it'll never come down
In remembrance, I accept it, but I’ll still miss you all year round

Our fleeting love has gone with the wind
In between the seams of unspoken promises
I hope it grows stronger every year like wildflowers
And we could talk again for infinite hours

Lengthy talks of our early years
Reminiscing of the dreams we each had for our own tomorrow
Nothing like breezy winds, and ingenious careers
Left us into the reality of dull minds and sorrows

We might be crazy, stuck in our own childhood daydreams
But I have faith ‘in we’, chasing that feeling you gave me
Your thoughts echo through the mind like a mother playing music for her baby
And I refuse to give up this time if coming together could save me

We walk this earth separated once again
But the love we foster will never end and I hope that’s true
We hurt so much and we tell our friends we are fine apart
But how can humans function properly with a severed heart

I gave you mine and you gave me yours, and we still hold on
One day, they’ll stop beating and we will have to move along
I pray that day never comes and we hold fast, ever-long
And our passion is one that can weather the storm

With the roaring engine and rustic gates
with fleeting moments of longer talks awaits
Stormy weather as we stay in the car as we wait
For it to stop, as we draw on the window figure eights

Infinite time to be with you
No turning back to this summer as it flew
With the course of laughter and silent moments
time to wonder who will be my next opponent

I want you and all of you with me
Nothing but longing and filled misery
With your intellectual thoughts, make a delivery
To my heart and mind with guarantee

Snapping out of my thoughts and dissolving memories,
Of a melancholy summer
Filled with us, traveling on a road trip and walking on dirt roads
The night sky that lit up with fireflies are nonexistent
But the ghost of you that still lingers in my heart of passion and simplicity
