It Is What It Is

Dealt a skunk-rotten hand
by the unseen hand
of some fun-loving demiurge,
caught in a deluge
of unpleasant nothings
that add up to
catastrophic somethings,
I keep this load on the road
wishing it could be lighter,
yes, I keep myself on the road
wishing it would be smoother
but it is what it is
and nobody cares about
the price weak little birds pay
when the stronger ones must fly.
