What It Takes
People will beat you.
Hurt and mistreat you.
But so far, you've held on.
You don't get to go very far.
Because they know who you are.
But so far, you've held on.
When you're being bruised.
Made fun of and used.
And they just leave you there.
Cause nobody cares.
Enough to pull you up and be your best friend.
So when you mess up it won't be the end.
Do you have what it takes?
Does it take what you have?
Just forgive your mistakes.
It's time to fight back.
As he strikes the final blow.
You fall down and you know.
You won't ever win on your own.
You don't ever want to be alone.
Time is short but life is long.
Come to a place where you belong.
And though you're feeling down and out.
There's nothing to be scared about.

Come here and I'll get you through.
Going and gone are never wrong.
You sing when you can't hear the song.
And though the load is such a weight.
Don't let your love turn into hate.

This could be a song. You should put it to music. It reminds me of a song by Cassadee Pope, "I am Invincible".

Just about all the poems I write are intended to be songs. I've sung this one, I know its tune, and the music I want for it would be relatively easy to do.
