The distance between what you meant
and what they read is vast –
How to bridge the gap
I’ll never know
But do you want to know
Isn’t that one of the powers of poetry
Being directly indirect
Ambiguous in a big way
Leaving plenty of room from interpretation
Hiding the message in plain sight
Saying thigs like je ne sais quoi
when you really mean Ich weiβ es nicht
I don’t know
how to say anything without coming across
a royal douchebag

The thing about poetry is this: it will connect with like-minded writers. That may be one - it may be a few. It may be none depending on your venue. But one thing is true despite numbers, and that's that your thoughts count regardless.
