Signed Letter

I remember walking with you in the sun.
Dawn looked like a new world begun.
The air was always fresh and clean.
And I had a shoulder I could lean on.
But now you’re gone.
And I’m still here.
Still waiting for you to come back, dear.

The sun still shines.
The days will get better.
I’m left behind alone.

It’s in my mind.
I sign this letter.
And mail it to the unknown.

Wind and rain came again just like before.
But now I don’t know what is in store.
Only now I know that I cannot pretend.
And that in spite it all I didn’t know then.
Some day I might see you again.
Or someone else may come along.
And put another verse into my song.

The sun still shines.
The days will get better.
And I am never alone.

It’s in my mind.
I sign this letter.
And mail it to the unknown.

A message in a bottle floating in the great beyond.
His hand guides it to someone across this little pond.

The sun still shines.
The days will get better.
And I am never alone.

It’s in my mind.
I sign this letter.
And mail it to the unknown.
