InterRiver Park

a chickadee, a crow, a robin
some sounds heard as I sit
a mountain called the elesphinx
and too just a bit

of fan noise from a baseball game
although it's out of sight
a barking dog who wants to play
in summer's evening light

as an electric car hums behind
passing down the road
in between two rivers
this is my sensory load

on the phone and blah blah blah
talking very loud
a woman seems indifferent
as if in a crowd

model plane enthusiasts
are playing with their toys
middle-aged and older
thinking they're still boys

summer is a holiday
summer's full of light
summer's full of warm days
summer has cool nights...
