Between Song and Soulmates

Humble are these attempts at poetry
Mental images dance to dulcet thought
Swirling tones and words; streaming floetry
Working my canvas against words I wrought

Haunting verberations traverse this melody

Of my heart and mind; music dominates
Rhythm, rhyme and harmony…speak to me
All emotion and feeling resonates
Mental thoughts channeled by a melody

People falling in love. And so it goes
Children soon will follow as pages turn
Familiar, a dream everybody knows
Soulmates sharing of life’s earthly sojourn

An old couple sitting on a park bench
Recollection upon years of their truth
Cherished, memories’ all embracing clench
A shimmering reflection of their youth

But, sometimes familiar dreams are not meant to be

The author and authority is Fate
Scripting life’s theatrical storyline
An unimagined Destiny with date
Mismatching timelines of two intertwine

The keynote, what is and will always be
A solemn song sings unto which love seeks
Consoling what is lost and found in me
Faith remaining when a silent heart speaks

Within the meditation of psalms I find peace

Instrumental, my symphonic shiver
Melodic woodwinds strings brass percussion
Transcendental emotions deliver
Feelings resonating in duration

It’s a little bit funny; puppy love
Once upon a time as a teenager
Serenading, as if words from above
Head over heels in my feelings for her

Consonance Smiles

Yes definitely, I awkwardly sang
Fifteen years old in my naivety
She giggled. And I patiently practiced
I then waited…

                    …Eight years later

Now as I think; we were still kids back then
My forever soulmate, “do you recall?”
I sang my version of Elton’s “Your Song”
As I made my proposal on one knee

Dissonance Frowns

If yesterday was always Monday eve
Endlessly talking on the telephone
If time stood still; who would ever believe?
These many years since, and yet I’m alone

Solitude lies beyond troubled waters
Drifting away in lyrics of a song
A thoughtful crescendo never falters
Forever in my refrain, I belong

Graciously, yesterday still promises of…another day

Of my heart and mind; music dominates
Speak to me…rhythm, rhyme and harmony
All emotion and feeling resonates
Mental thoughts channeled by the melody

My poem, somewhere between song and soulmates
