How to be Eaten
Today, my skin crawls as their gazes devour me.
They claw and punch and stab and kick for a lick,
drooling at the chance to slaughter the lamb.
And while my liver and heart remain intact,
only crumbs of my innocence are left.
I cowered in fear as they speared me
and slovenly chewed on my entrails,
my blood and tears dripping from their mouths as they chewed.
But now that their hunger is satiated,
and only undesirable scraps remain,
What am I without a mouth to feed?
They claw and punch and stab and kick for a lick,
drooling at the chance to slaughter the lamb.
And while my liver and heart remain intact,
only crumbs of my innocence are left.
I cowered in fear as they speared me
and slovenly chewed on my entrails,
my blood and tears dripping from their mouths as they chewed.
But now that their hunger is satiated,
and only undesirable scraps remain,
What am I without a mouth to feed?
