Patchwork Sweater
I am pieces of people I’ve known
For very long after they have flown
I see them in the tattoos on my skin
And in the places I have been
In last weeks new haircut I did myself
When I go to the beach and collect shells
In hobbies I might not have discovered
And even in the way I keep my cupboard
I see them in the way I dress
I hold onto them, I will confess
I’m a sewn-together patchwork sweater
And this is my catch-all love letter
For very long after they have flown
I see them in the tattoos on my skin
And in the places I have been
In last weeks new haircut I did myself
When I go to the beach and collect shells
In hobbies I might not have discovered
And even in the way I keep my cupboard
I see them in the way I dress
I hold onto them, I will confess
I’m a sewn-together patchwork sweater
And this is my catch-all love letter
