A Warrior's Prayer
Grant me the strength to bear the burden of war.
I do not kill for glory, but to shield the innocent of
my country from harm. Is it wrong for me to
satisfy my natural desires with the spoils of war?
In the quiet of night, when the fires of battle fade, I'm thankful for the virgin we spared. Her features are comely and delicate. Her soul is saddened by the loss I’ve inflicted on her family and her gaze is empty. Earlier on this day, I killed her father, mother, and sisters. They were beautiful in their dying.
May this child’s final acts be pleasing to our gods. As I enter her sacred place to worship, give me strength to fill her with a few moments of pleasure before her passing.
