The Hit Is Going Down

BANK OF AMERICA
Manhattan, New York

“Ma’am are you sure this man tried to rob you.”

Zaniyah looked up; she tried at best to read Marcus’ response behind his sunglasses.

Marcus slightly nodded his head.

“Yes he did.”

The head security officer lifted his walkie-talkie to his mouth and pressed in a button.

Marcus saw two men hurrying down the street.

“I think the lady needs to get inside the bank, and now?” Marcus barked.

Zaniyah ran to the door.

Little Lenny aimed his weapon at the security officer’s back and pulled the trigger.

The security officer was struck in the back. He fell forward. His body made a bed in a puddle of cemented rain water.

Zaniyah screamed.

Pedestrians on the street ran and ducked for cover.

 “Get down.”

The head security officer pushed Zaniyah down to the cement. Her umbrella landed at her knees.

Tango lifted Zaniyah up by her hand.

“Come on dammit.”

“That’s not going to happen on my watch today fat boy.”

Marcus moved to confront to Tango.

The head security officer pushed Marcus back up against the wall.

“Get back against the wall,” the head security officer shouted. “And dammit stay there before I Tase your black ass!”

Moretti flipped the front flap aside of his Trench coat. He lifted his Utas Uts-15 from under his arm, raised it, and aimed it. He squeezed the trigger.

The rapid fire of bullets eradicated everything standing within its path.

Tango was hit in the side of his upper thigh.

“Fuck.”

He grabbed his bleeding wound and dropped to the cement.

“Shit.”

The head security officer looked down at Tango. He lifted his head, aimed his Ruger Super Redhawk, and returned open fire.

“Zaniyah stay down.”

Marcus reached behind himself and lifted his Glock from behind his waistband.

Tango looked up at Marcus. He recognized the man who shot him in the thigh.

“Why you black bastard.”

Tango lifted his weapon out the side of his waistband. He aimed it up at Marcus.

“Federal Agent don’t do it man.”

Little Lenny shot Tango in the side of his temple.

Tango’s head slumped forward. His weapon fell between his inner thighs.

Marcus opened the entrance door to the bank.

“Go go.”

Zaniyah crawled into the bank.

Marcus held the door open and fired his glock at Little Lenny and Moretti’s quicken footsteps.

Little Lenny shielded himself behind a SUV.

Moretti ducked behind a wall. He peeped from behind the wall and fired a parade of bullets.

Marcus pulled the door close. He opened it and peeped back out.

Moretti stepped from behind the wall.

Marcus shot Moretti in an ear.

“Bastard.”

Moretti’s hand dropped. He cupped his ear with his other palm.

“Fuck.”

The burning pain of the bullet fragments burned within.

The head security officer continued to fire at Little Lenny and Moretti.

“Get inside, dammit,” Marcus demanded to the head security officer.

“Fuck you, and you are under arrest.”

Marcus pulled the head security officer inside the bank. He pushed the glassed door close and locked the door. Marcus turned to face the screaming bank patrons. He lifted his badge from off his belt. He held it up.

“Federal Agent Modarius, and I need everyone to move behind the teller station and quickly.”

“No one moves,” the security officer forewarned everyone. He looked over at Marcus. “Your ass could be behind this attempted robbery. I suggest you turn around and put your hands up.”

“If you are responsible for getting anyone within this bank injured or killed. I swear, I will see you persecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” Marcus turned and addressed the curiosity in the patrons’ eyes. “I need everyone to get behind the teller station and now. Zaniyah, I need you to hide under a desk.”

No one moved.

“Now dammit!”

The patrons in the bank, and several bank employees moved behind the teller station and ducked down.

Marcus removed his sunglasses and slipped them inside the breast pocket of his suit jacket. He looked over at the head security officer.

“How many rounds are you holding?”

“Around two.”

“Make them count for something.”

Marcus rushed over to a row of cubicle wooden desks and joined Zaniyah under one.

The security officer dropped to his knees and crawled under a desk across from theirs.

Marcus looked at the entrance door.

“I do not hear anything. They must have heard the police sirens.”

“Which I do not hear,” Marcus confirmed.

Moretti and Little Lenny stood on opposite sides of the door. Moretti lifted his three fingers and counted down.

Little Lenny lifted his weapon. He stepped back and shot through the glassed door.

The glassed door immediately caved in.

Little Lenny rushed inside the entrance of the bank. He looked around.

“All we want is the bitch. Once we accomplish that, everyone can go on with their merry life.”

Moretti slowly entered the bank and stood at the door. He lifted his weapon and shot the perimeter of the bank.

Several patrons screamed. Many behind the teller station held their hands over the ears.

“Where the fuck is Zaniyah!” Little Lenny walked around the bank. “Come out come out, wherever you are, you fucking cunt.”

Marcus looked across the aisle. He placed his index finger over his lips for the head security officer to remain silent.

Little Lenny walked toward the teller station.

Marcus lifted his glock. He closed one eye and centered his target. He pulled the trigger back.

A bullet whizzed into the back of Little Lenny’s head.

Little Lenny instantly dropped to his knees and fell forward. His weapon slid inches from his presence.

Moretti looked down at the pool of blood Little Lenny’s head swam in. He glanced around calculating where the bullet may have originated.

“Okay, you nigger. We could do this my way or your way.”

Moretti lifted his weapon and aimed it near the desk cubicles. He fired his gun in a half-circular motion.

A patron walked into the bank.

Moretti stopped firing his weapon and ran over to the door.

The woman turned to run.

Moretti pulled the woman by a handful of hair. He wrapped his arm around her neck and balanced the weapon in his hand.

“What…what are you doing young man? I demand you to let me go.

“Shut the fuck up, before you eat this gun.”

The blood droplets sliding down the side of Moretti’s neck made a home in the woman’s hair stands.

“If the nigger and the security officer do not come out. This bitch is dead on arrival.”

Moretti’s bent arm squeezed down on the woman’s windpipe.

“Stop…sto....”

The woman choked on her words.

Marcus leaned over and kissed Zaniyah on her lips.

Zaniyah palmed Marcus’ arm.

“Marcus no, please, wait for the police to arrive, please don’t go.”

“I love you beautiful woman.”

Marcus planted a quick kiss to Zaniyah’s lips. He scooted out from under the desk and rose to his feet.

The head security officer was about to join him.

Marcus shook his head at the head security officer to remain.

Moretti whirled around.

“I need you to put the weapon down.”

Marcus looked at the fright in the woman’s eyes.

“Now motherfucker! You want to play the hero huh.”

Moretti lifted his weapon.

A shot rang out.

Marcus watched Moretti’s gun drop to the floor and then him.

The head security officer leveled his firearm. He inhaled a deep breath, and then scooted from under the desk. He rose and then placed his weapon back inside his gun holster worn at his side. He  lifted his walkie-talkie up to his mouth.

Marcus lifted his suit jacket and placed his glock behind his back. He stuffed it behind his waistband. He ran back over to the desk.

Zaniyah crawled from under the desk. She rose and hugged Marcus.

“Whe…when is this going to end.”

Marcus hugged Zaniyah tighter.

“Once this investigation is over. You and I will be on the next plane to Montego Bay sipping on a Mojito, I promise.”

Zaniyah hugged Marcus tighter. She looked up into his eyes.

“I’m going to hold you to that. In the meantime, I going to hold on to you now.”

Marcus rubbed his palms up and down Zaniyah’s back. He kissed the top of her head, and then hugged her around her waist. He walked over to the head security officer.

“No one is to leave; this bank is now considered a crime scene.”

“Yes sir, and I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to question your position.”

“No worries man, you came through when it counted the most.”

Marcus heard the police and the fire department sirens echoing in the distance.

“Baby, I need for you to remain behind. You will be interviewed about the deceased suspects.”

“I cannot believe Tango is behind this; how cruel to do this to my father, talk about loyalty.”

“Zaniyah, I think you were the target of a possible kidnapping.”

Zaniyah looked around the chaotic crime scene.

“I think you’re right. Once my father gets wind of this. I’m afraid all hell is going to break loose.”

“As your significant other. I strongly advise against retaliation. You are a target from someone and the mystery remains, as to why. Until I can see those eyes looking up at me on a bed of sand. Stay out of this investigation, and that goes for your father, especially him.”

“Mar...”

“No buts.”

Marcus kissed Zaniyah on her lips and strolled across the bank to speak with the bank manager.

ONE HOUR LATER

“Director Modarius, it appears you can’t keep your foot out of trouble for two seconds.”

Marcus turned around.

“For some strange reason, shit just keeps following me.”

Agent Pelican glanced around the bank. His eyes fell on Zaniyah.

“I guess your kind of trouble has long and beautiful legs, sweet lips and is the daughter of the notorious Mr. Delaro, a crime syndicate Mafia boss.”

“As a man I cannot deny, yes she has the legs and even the pussy may be outstanding to the last drop, but pussy is pussy, and business is business. And on my watch, no mothafucka gets a pass, and yes, that includes Mr. Delaro.”

“And his daughter.”

“I’m sure she will try some underhanded bullshit, it’s in her blood.”

“Make sure you keep it objective.”

“No doubt.”

Both men laughed

“Here comes the boys in blue and since this is their jurisdiction. If I am needed, I will be at my office compiling a pyramid. If this indeed was a hit, or an attempted kidnapping. I’m sure there are going to be others who would try. Someone out there is trying to make Mr. Delaro pay big time.”

Marcus looked down at his watch.

“Now that the dynamics have changed regarding this investigation. There will be a briefing scheduled by my assistant, Mrs. Chambers later this afternoon and I expect you to be there. Once I give a statement. I will see you momentarily.”

“Yes sir.”

Both men walked away.

JACOBS AVENUE
Kearny, NJ

Domenico’s cell phone vibrated. He looked down at his Rolex.

“About fucking time.”

He lifted the cell phone front out the side pocket of his suit jacket and slid it open. He placed the cell phone up to his ear.

“What do we have?”

“Confusion.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?”

Domenico looked back down at his watch.

“Where the fuck is the cargo. You two fucks were supposed to be here.”

“Domenico, I am here at the bank. Cops, the Feds, the police, and a street full of the press is at the bank.”

“Say what!”

“That so called nigger you were so worried about took out Tango and Little Lenny.”

“Dammit!” Domenico slicked his hand back through his hair. “Wait, where the fuck is Moretti.”

“Dead.”

“By?”

“Not by the hand of that black guy. According to the witnesses being interviewed; some of the people who were inside the bank, stated a security officer took down Moretti.”

“Fuck!”

“You telling me. Had I not abandoned the van on the street, my ass would be in handcuffs.”

“Did you leave any DNA behind?”

“I do not see how anyone could collect evidence from a burning van.”

“That was a very smart move my man.”

“Domenico, you need to lay low. Mr. Delaro is going to want blood for his blotched hit, and then whoever is responsible for attempting to kidnap his daughter.”

“You let me take care of Mr. Delaro. For now, I would leave town, before the scent leads in your direction.”

“You got it man.”

Both men severed the conversation.

Domenico slid his cell phone close and dropped it into the side pocket of his suit jacket. He looked around the abandoned warehouse.

“Fuck!”

He palmed his chin down.

Mr. Delaro, is going to want blood he thought. He had to think of a decisive plan, to make sure it isn’t his.”
