Our Story...Just Begun? (musings on Neanderthals)
" They were huge hulking pale-skinned beasts
thick bow-legs like gnarly tree trunks
not like us... night-black, swift and sleek,
some women, son, thought they were hunks.
Yeah, said to produce fine fit bucks...
but had no savvy, do ye see, son
for bows, boomerangs, arrows and such.
Brains? thick as hide o' rhino's
and slow, slow as an old dodo
they had no go, just couldn't run...
But they drew some fame, great big feasts
with downed mammoths, girt bloody chunks
on fires running with sweet, sweet, grease,
them, stomp, stomp, dance round trophy trunks.
Since they moved I swear my belly shrunk!
So, where they gone my dim, pale, son
or, still here, skulking round like skunks?
But, come on son we gotta go
get this deer home, sun's getting low...
their story ending? Ours... just begun? "
