The Adventures of a Leaf

I'm a lonely leaf who fell one day
A howling wind took me
On the ground is where I lay

I'm alone, vulnerable & afraid
A monster coming near
Yuck, yellow mist this creature sprayed

As I carefully look around
Other leaves laying silent
Scattered all over the ground

One day a tall creature appeared
Powered up a machine
The noise heightened my fears

Many leaves blown into a pile
I think the creature missed me
At ease, I began to smile

Each pile was a certain width & height
I heard many leaves crying
Brought on by fear & fright

The creature began igniting each mound
Innocent leaves incinerated
I was motionless, I made no sound

The next day I saw the creature with some sort of device
Raking me and others into a pile
I knew it was time to pay the price

Instead, three smaller creatures went to the taller one
We were saved without being torched
The little creatures wanted to have some fun

These smaller creatures were filled with glee
This made me & others so happy
This lonely leaf who fell from a tree
