Silhouettes of Sorrow

In the stillness of the night, shadows settle where you once stood,
Echoes of your absence haunt the solitude, misunderstood.
The void within, a silent scream, a wasteland of despair,
From the spark of hope to ashes cold, love's cruel affair.

We, the reckless souls, chasing dreams of distant shores,
Yet destined to find only wreckage washed upon our shores.
Bleeding hearts, we're the fortunate ones, they say,
For in our scars, we carry the memories of love's decay.

I've lost it all, a mere silhouette in the twilight's grasp,
A hollow shell, a faded memory of a love that couldn't last.
Tears stain my cheeks, your words a dagger in my chest,
A melody of pain, a symphony of unrest.

If love still blooms within you, then fortune smiles your way,
But for most, bitterness lingers, where love once held sway.
We ignite our souls, set fire to the past's debris,
Yet in the flames, we find solace, but never truly free.

So let the shadows linger, let the echoes fade away,
For in the darkness, I'll remain, a silhouette in disarray.
A heart once whole, now fractured by love's cruel whim,
Forever haunted by the ghost of what could have been.
