Come Hell or High Water

Isaiah 43:2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. KJV  
   
Unconditional love I do give to you  
I am your shelter from fire and rain  
   
Come Hell or High Water  
   
Literal and figuratively did not agree  
Tuesday preempting Saturday’s vows  
   
of mortal flesh and blood am I…still
yesterday…was so many years ago  
   
And on that Friday morning rains fell  
As the realization validated my tears  
   
I can only defer to a higher power  
For I know not reasons of fate’s plan  
   
Unconditional love I do give thee
