From what I recall
You were once
as pleasing
as summer winds
brushing my cheek
under plum trees.
I'd have stood
the world,
on its head
to prolong your kisses;
those miracles
ignorant of time
and vaporous years.
But like all mirages,
you faded
making me
in the end
a forgotten shadow
when your infatuation
expired.
Through wisdom,
I've learned.
At least once in life
some of us
will be forgotten
and discarded
like the pit of a plum
as pleasing
as summer winds
brushing my cheek
under plum trees.
I'd have stood
the world,
on its head
to prolong your kisses;
those miracles
ignorant of time
and vaporous years.
But like all mirages,
you faded
making me
in the end
a forgotten shadow
when your infatuation
expired.
Through wisdom,
I've learned.
At least once in life
some of us
will be forgotten
and discarded
like the pit of a plum

...like in the opening sequence of 'When Harry Met Sally' right, Dragonblood? There's no worse feeling with what you are describing here. Bravo! 😊

To be honest I never saw that one, only clips. Thanks for the comment. I didn't think anyone would see this being it was hidden for a time. :)

Oh the bittersweet longing in this memory.
This is one of the best ways I've read to slow time, stop time, reverse time and stay in the moment:
"I'd have stood
the world
on its head
to prolong your kisses "
The plum tree in summer is such a hopeful image. The end, tying it all together, of the discarded pit, the sweet flesh devoured and forgotten... really lovely stuff man.

Excellent.
This is so perfect.
Nothing else to add really. It's a great write.

I like your word choice and particularly the geography of this piece, your placement and spacing.
