Ever So Blessed

From the first droplets
.
of tear
.
blood
.
and sweat
You birthed
with doubts
love
and flood-
of emotions, overwhelming
Poured all
the little you had
with no others
to truly count on
fighting;
self doubt
lack of sleep
guilt,
and all that was postpartum
Shedding your years of youth
from that very table of birth
to now, still sacrificing
and working
Giving your everything;
Love, you taught
food, you cooked
gazed reassuringly-
embracing all we are
Providing such comfort;
tucked us in with kisses-
even in our sleep
warmth, in our dreams
taking us back home
It's all that you are;
the very existence that's precious
more than any could ask
how you lose sleep
with anxious heart
for our well-being
When you pray-
please take care for yourself, too
All those times
when you'd lend your ears
and heart
to our juvenile worries
with genuine eyes
you listened, despite your own
Ever so blessed
.
Loved
.
Cherished
.
Now I follow your path...

This is a really nice write Te. Good job. Nothing can compare to the experience of parenting. Just hoping that you can do the right thing and raise healthy human beings that are prepared to go out and find success in this fucked up world.

Mother's are often the unsung heroes. The sacrifices they make for their children are profound. Your ode to the Mom's of our world is so passionate. Love both your gift with language and the feelings you so brilliantly put to words. This is one to remember.

You're so right, when I was writing I had this urge to express the beauty and love of a mother's greatness... and do it justice.
