Resilience

If the world can cry tears
They would be red
For all the blood shed going on everyday
We are fighting a losing battle between life and death
It seems that the cards are in deaths favor
Since these days the gift of life is not cherished

I feel like a caged bird who is dying to be set free
Free from the intrusive thoughts in my head that tightly has their shackles wrapped around me
Free from the weight of the world caving in on me and trying to crush my spirit
Just free from the old me
Ready to shed the skin away of the woman that I use to be

But, sometimes chasing freedom comes with a price
Freedom cannot just be handed to you on a silver platter
You have to jump hurdles and swim through wading waters, just to get it
Many people die without successfully living the life that they dream for themselves

Who said life would be an easy and swift race
Oh no, you have to take your time and get through it at your own pace
My blood, sweat and tears will not be released in vain
I will fight tooth and nail,
Run through vines and thorns, taking every cut with stride
Just to make the most of this short thing called life
