The Emptiness
Well here’s to the truth, here’s a toast to the lies,
Here’s to the sadness, hidden in these eyes.
Stab my heart and watch the life drain right out,
Crush my soul; watch me die without a fight.
Break my bones, grind me to dust and blow me away,
Straw my veins, watch me bleed to the light of day.
My tears they burn like ice, my veins are emptied dry,
This hollow black abyss, an empty soul did die.
Battered at your hands, bloodied and broken,
Lonesome and alone, unwanted and forgotten.
Ripped apart by pride, pinned down by hope,
Kick the chair from my feet; I’ll tie the noose to my rope.
Those silent screams at night, those eerie shouts of pain,
Those few moments when the angels called my name.
The emptiness inside has been filled with hate,
Slit my throat across, spill my blood and seal my fate.
Here’s to the sadness, hidden in these eyes.

Crush my soul; watch me die without a fight.
