Deep Down Underground

 
He tried to bury it deep down underground
But this thing, it still came up for air
He sought to cover it in his soul trying to get a hold
Of the emotion that grows within in despair

And yet the sensation leaves him in a state of pure elation
A conundrum of willpower, frailty, and control
The fixation rocks him to the very core of his foundations
Wondering why the sweet affliction is taking its toll
