From Nature With Love

i was never fated to rot inside the book
rather would i stroll in the fields of wheat
golden seas swaying in the warm Summer's heat.
sailing the fields with cicada and silent brooks

nor the one gaping into an empty void
time is poesy gleaned from far afield
or even crying out my pains on inky sheet
wasting health, glued by a silver shield

i have known Pan, crook, and so many a hook
and yellow books, decked with fine history
fairy tales, tailed with the fairest endings
and sad stories, starting with romantic looks

lest i should look too much lofty in open view
i have to keep the dust firmly under my weak feet
to feel the earth as my home, i must then admit
that arrogance and ignorance are my only lethal foes

as long as the human in me still can breathe and see
as my feet can take me away the farthest that can be
for a truthful word from a trustful human feeling
i will side with Nature's and its poesy eternally
