old dog under a new sun

first truly warm day
of the year

saw a couple of
bees trumpeting
the return of spring
and honeyed days
yet to come

went to laundromat

sat in my car smoking

laid back a little

this old dog felt the
heat melt into these
grizzled bones like
butter on fresh toast

soon the tree's will
blossom

and so will
I
