the battle for power (sonnet)

they are a strange sort of people, see themselves
as eternal victims, in reality, it is their behavior
a hidden contempt for those who do not share
their odd religion forever seeking to dominate
their surroundings, with a vulgar persistence
make them impervious to other races suffering
On TV, they see the horror we see, the death
of thousands of children, but it stirs them not
When a child in their group is murdered, swear
revenge that in its savagery is Old Testamental
A cunning people who seek help from people
in power, working slowly to win their trust
We see this in real time when they try to
snare in the wealthiest man in the world to their
cause; they may succeed. We will see!
